Default Is it the norm now to use a brush instead of a sponge or wedge to put on liquid

foundation? i got a consultation at the Prescriptives counter and she put my makeup on with a brush. i decided to switch over to a lighter foundation so she matched me up with a sheer to meduim coverage foundation and powder. is it better to use a brush or should i just stick with the wedge?
