Do you need powder with macs foundation?

I was just wondering if you needed powder with the mac studio fix powder plus foundation compact? And is that even good cause I need some kind of foundation that will last all day and not make my skin have all those nasty dry spots.
oh and one more thing what is the stuff they sell you spray on your face when your done applying everything that is supposed to make it last all day?
