Default why toss eyeshadow if you've had it for longer than two years?

I read in a magazine that you should throw away eyeshadow powders after two to three years, why? Just curious.. any good reasons? any experts out there?

Bacteria can form in the powder, because you touch the powder, then your eye, then the powder again, and so on. Oil from your skin gets in the powder, and bacteria can form. These bacteria can cause damage to your eyes.

Also, realistically, after two to three years, styles change. Frost or metallic eyeshadow comes and goes, color combos change, etc. Changing eyeshadows at least this often has the added benefit of ensuring that the look you're using isn't dated.
