I've been playing it safe with pink lipsticks and lip glosses for as long as I can remember because of my pale porcelain skin complexion. The problem though is that my lips are naturally a bright grapefruit pink colour, so pink shades of said lipstick/gloss don't really do anything for me. I wanted to be a little playful this summer by wearing red tones on my lips, but I don't wanna look like an old lady who only wears owns one tube of lipstick, so how can I find out which shade of red is perfect for me?

I am not really sure unless you might go to a makeup counter and have someone try some shades on you .....I came across this website that is really cool and what you do it upload a picture of you they said it works best if you have your hair pulled back in the picture....then you actually apply makeup to your face and it gives you different brands to choose from and shades and it tells you what brand and what color you are putting on and it has lots of lip colors and I think there were several different reds ...so I would suggest trying that out ...it is free and kinda fun you can even add a hairstyle and change your hair color it is just really neat and its not a animated looking program either ...it actually looks like you are putting on real products .....so other than going to a makeup counter and trying it on I don't really know what to tell you. I know a Red that you like is sometimes hard to find ..you can't just say I want a red lip color ...because there are soooo many shades of red. But this site lets you put makeup on YOUR face so it will give you a good idea if you like it ...

OK, this is going to sound wierd, but I swear it works, so here goes nothin'.

Match the red shade to your tongue. Yep. That's right. Find a shade that goes well with the color of your tongue, and you will find the shade of red that works for you.

I read that one in Cosmo when I was about 14, lo these many years ago, and I tried it, and I swear, I SWEAR, it works.

And no, I really don't know why.
