I'm going for that Marilyn Monroe, classic Hollywood look, but everytime I try the red lipstick look I feel ridiculous. I use lipliner & I outline my lips very carefully. The problem is when I fill them in with the red lipstick, I still feel like I've went outside the lips & it looks weird! Any tips?!

Apply red lip gloss, it is easier to apply, and reapply, it looks more natural.

Also, apply a clear coat of lipstick, or lip gloss on first, so it won't dye ur lips.

Don't use lip liner!!
If u do!! Apply it inside the lip line, unless u have extremely thin lips.

this is a fool proof way.

1. apply chapstick to your lips.
2. line your lips with a sharp red liner. remember to use short, feathered strokes instead of long, heavy strokes.
3. fill in your lips.
4. top with a clear gloss (not a balm, a gloss) or a tinted red gloss (mac's viva glam IV red's are EXCELLENT)

using a red lipstick at first can be too daunting. the color is too thick and can look clownish. using a fully lined lip and topping with gloss will help the color look smoother and less jarring.
