To make-up artists!! what colour lipstick to wear with certain coloured clothes?

What colour lipstick to wear with a lilac outfit with purple eye shadow?
A dark navy blue outfit with navy eyeshadow?

Eyeshadow to be done according to colours in outfit but lipstick, im having some trouble with. Any suggestions? I'm a brunette with brown eyes with pale skin.

no, no, no, no, you don't match the outfit you balance and blend and accent, offset, dramatize or soften

I think black looks really sexy on lilac
and smoky browns with navy

I've always been more into nude lipsticks like Pamela Anderson

The general rule for make up is either to go stronger on the eyes or stronger on the lips (never strong on both!)
With this in mind (and without actually seeing you which is harder!) with a liliac outfit I would go for a soft blue tone on the eyes and a raspberry toned lipstick.
For the navy blue outfit go for black eyeliner and mascara and a natural eyeshadow and a natural lipstick.

As you have brown eyes the general rule for enhancing your eye colour is to go for pinks,coppers and blues for the eyes,dark brown and black eyeliner and mascara and for lips you can go for browns,bronzes and raspberry tones.

I recommend visiting either MAC or CLINIQUE for advice on shades.

it really depends on your skin color and the shape of your lips. some colors just do go.

I would go with a light pink for the lilac, and a pretty red for the navy blue. Brunettes can pull off natural red lip tones.

If you are wearing a strong eyeshadow I would recommend a slick of pink tinted lip gloss. It will look subtle but modern, if you go heavy on lipstick you could look dated.

I think if you are matching eyeshadow to your clothes then you should go for a natural mouth. If your eyeshadow is not natural pinks, browns, or golds, then it is better to have understated mouth. Remember adorn either your eyes or your mouth, Not both.

In both cases, I would suggest wearing a lipstick colour close to your own lip colour just alittle more brighter.

Otherwise just put on pink gloss, or clear gloss or anything that looks natural on you.
