Skincare - less is more?
this sounds wierd but i just had an argument with my dad over cosmetics and skincare products!he was actually LECTURING me on how to take care of my skin correctly!!
The story is, I've been telling him that I'm going to get microdermabrasion done because i have acne scars and rough skin caused by previous breakouts. The thing is my skin was just fine until I tried out this expensive cleanser that totally broke me out severely. It had just recently healed and I just want my skin to be soft and smooth again. He started complaining about how I dont listen to his advice when he kept telling me not to use or try products around if you already found what is already good!Cos if i had listened to him (me and my dad have the same type of skin thats why) I wouldnt have to go through severe breakouts and pay so much for microdermabrasion. well he was right. he even get to the point that I should only use water to clean my skin because it works for him.
i argued back that using water to clean oily skin wont do anything unless using a gel cleanser. he said "okay, then what cleanser did you use when your skin was perfect?" "neutrogena" "and how much was that?" "a few dollars" "and how much is the expensive cleanser that broke you out?" "$37" ...... yup..."so whats the conclusion?" "expensive does not always mean its better..." hmm... what an argument. i totally lost. he suggest not to use too many because the more you use, the more chemica you put on your skin, the more risk it takes. my dad uses water to wash face and his skin is flawless.
but i always thought: cleanse, tone, moisturize, exfoliate, mask is a must am i right? or is he right?
