Default straightening gel residue left in hair. is it harmful?

I straightened my hair y'day and by mistake left out some on the scalp. It has dried out now and it feels like some "glue" dried on the scalp. My Hair stylist has asked me not to wash my hair until 2 days. What should i do? Will the gel go, once i wash it after 2 days or should i remove it today itself. Please answer soon, dont want to spoil my hair. And the thing is right in front making my head looked flat in the front.
