Default Hair wax/pomade stuff problems, ahh!?

I have medium-longish hair and I got bored earlier and tried to gel it, turns out the stuff I used was this: http://www.ballbeauty.com/black_and_white_pomade.htm
I can't get it out, any ideas?
This is what It looks like
(It's completely dry, despite how it looks)

i would suggest you stop using the product or drastically cut down on how much you use, wash condition well and have it trimmed regular"

I don't intend to ever use it again.
By the way, I managed to get it out.
For the reference of anyone else who gets in a similar predicament:
dilute dish soap in a nice big bowl of hot (not boiling) water, get a jug and pour jugfuls of the diluted dish soap onto your hair and massage it in, once you can't feel the greasy gunk in your hair anymore go into the shower and shampoo the dish soap out, I had to do this twice to get rid of all the gunk.

dish soap. if its for african american textured hair then its a little oily for caucasion hair. but use a small amount of dish soap it wont hurt but will get it clean.
