How do I curl my hair with my curling iron?

I have a Conair curling iron. It's this one: http://furniture.eifcentral.org/p/61/images/conair-cd103cs-satin-finish-112inch-ceramic-curling-iron.jpg

I don't know how to curl my hair with it. I want it in kind of big fancy curls.

How do I accomplish this? Because everytime I do it, it'll just wave my hair and that's not what I want.

And please don't tell me to use the curling rolls, because I don't have them. I have a CURLING iron, that is supposed to CURL my hair.

HOW?!
