I have fair skin. I want to look tanned this summer. I heard of the lotions that you rub onto your body to achieve the tanned look. Everytime I shower, won't the lotion wash right off? How can the lotion gradually give you the tanned look if I shower everyday? Thanks for reading.

Once you apply the lotion and rub it in, and it has time to absorb, it is essentially like a 'dye' or stain for the skin (like wood stain). It colors the upper layers of the epidermis and after it absorbs it does not 'wash' off that easily. It fades as the outer layers of skin sloughs off cells and those cells are replaced from below with new, undyed cells.

Just follow the directions on the bottle and you'll be fine.
