Default Manicures and pedicures?

I keep hearing that during pregnancy you arent supposed to get manicures and pedicures is this true?
I heard that when they are massaging your feet and hands that if they hit a certain spot and releases the same hormones that bring on labor

I've never heard that before. A mani and pedi would be great and relaxing during pregnancy. You can always ask your salon what they recommend. Enjoy your pregnancy.

I dont see the problem with a regular manicures, or pedicure, it is the acrylic sets you have to be careful about and the chemicals they use in the shops you get your manicures in. I found a friend to do mine for me on our back porch so I didn't have to worry about breathing in all of that crap! Or you could ask your husband to rub your feet and paint your nails. That's usually better than a stranger doing it anyhow.

The best pre-baby gift I got was a pedi/mani/massage when I was 8 months pregnant.

I am 37 weeks and I get a manicure and a pedicure every 2 weeks and have the whole time. My docotor says there is nothing wrong with it as long as i'm not in the shop for hours on end several times a week. I was just told this weekend by my massage therapist that there is a spot on the ankle that will induce labor so you do need to be careful.

You should avoid acylics, of the same reason you should avoid painting... you dont want to breath in the harmful man-made fumes and expose your baby.

Natural manicures are ok... and even polish fumes are discouraged from being exposed to... so even entering a salon with lots of manicures going on could put your baby at risk for exposure to carcinigens.

I have never heard this one but maybe they meant the fake acrylic nails. I know that when you get those done, the smell is really bad and I heard that it's not good for pregnant women to inhale it.
