About a year ago I discovered that I was having a new reaction to mascara. I had never had any reaction to any makeup before. I could even get it directly into my eye and as long as I washed it out I was ok.

Then one night while out I started to get all this extra "gunk" in my eyes. I'm not sure how else to describe it. It's like the sleep you get in your eyes, except it was a lot of it. And my eyes were super red and kinda sore for a few days to follow.

When I called my dr and talked to the nurse they said that it was a reaction to the mascara. So in the months to follow I tried several different brands of mascara to no avail. I even tried applying it differently, keeping it from getting too close to my actual eye, and that worked, for about 10 minutes.

I can wear makeup without mascara, but it just looks incomplete to me, I don't like it. I've thought of trying hypoallergenic mascara, but when looking online the sypmtoms I saw in regards to a mascara allergy had all to do with the skin and not the actual eye.

I was just wondering if anybody could recommend, a type of mascara that would work, or if you think the hypoallergenic mascara would still work with these symptoms. Or if there is some way to apply makeup without the mascara that looks good.
