I don't use foundation and i know people say your concealer should be 1 or 2 shades lighter than your foundation for dark circles under the eye ect. Can I wear concealer without wearing foundation? Or should I wear foundation.& what exactly is foundation?

you can definitely wear concealer without foundation.. although it tends to look better with it, you dont need it.
and they were right, concealer should be a little lighter than your skin tone.

you can use concealor by itself but unless it perfectly matches your skin tone, itll look fake. if you dont like foundation then start with a tinted moisturizer. i like to use mac studio fix fluid and cliniques dramatically different moisturizer and mixing it so that i can control the coverage. foundation helps even out your skin tone and creates a canvas for other makeup products. if you use the foundation by itself, it can act as concealer also. if you use foundation by itself, you may not have to use concealer. concealer is just like foundation but it is usually thicker in consistency and works where foundation doesnt have enough coverage. if your dark circles are super dark , then the concealer should be no lighter that 2 shades of your skin tone. go to a counter at the department stores or sephora or ulta to have a professional find your shades. be sure to ask lots of questions.
