I got what you mean I'm a bit like that too!
the only thing with self tanners and knowing if they are any good is that everyone has different skin types. For example a few of my friends use a tan in a can and it works fine for them, but i go orangey with that, i find the gradually build a tan ones work best especially Dove and lorial, because as soon as you get the colour you want you then only have to apply the moisteriser 2 times a week, but yeah you mite jst have to try a few to find the perfect one for you.
