I think I'm much older than you so I might not be seeing exactly what you see, but here are my thoughts:

I know the type of girls you are talking about, and I agree with you that I do not know what its like to be black . Nor do you know what its like to be white, I say this because sometimes we all get thrown together on these things and its just not true that we all think alike. I think you understand that.

Also it is very insulting to any person no matter what color you are if someone takes something you feel belongs to your group and exploits it. You feel as if you are being made fun of in a way. Personally as a blond, I cannot imagine using hair oil...it just would not work on my hair.

I do think a big part of the reason these young ladies are copying another "culture" is because of music and videos.
Especially in areas where there was not much diversification - now young girls and boys enjoy music that was not available to them 20 years ago. With the Gangsta scene has come all kinds of new styles and although some may not work for all of us, kids will still follow.

Finally, I would ask you respectfully how you would feel if I said "I am white - why can't blacks let me have anything of my own?" -- which of course I would never do but you did to me.

I truly hope you give me a real answer not just get mad and fly off the handle. PEACE........
