Try using a shade of purple. I think that brown is the best choice, but if you really hate it, purple goes with everything/everyone. Go to the mall and have a consultation (it's free) with one of the makeup people there. Take mental notes about the colors and application techniques they show you, then buy them at the drugstore (or right there at the counter if you don't mind shelling out some extra dough).
